Conflict resolution is the social-emotional skill that allows adolescents to deal with inevitable interpersonal disagreements constructively, seeking cooperative and win-win solutions. In adolescence, the inability to manage conflict results in two extremes that cause exclusion: aggressive escalation (which generates rejection) or passive withdrawal (which leads to isolation).

The “Tu Mejor Versión” programme provides mediation and negotiation models and tools that enable young people to identify the emotional root of the conflict, listen to the other person’s perspective and propose mutually acceptable solutions. This skill is crucial for the stability of friendships and group dynamics. A young person who knows how to resolve conflicts does not break ties at the first sign of difficulty, but rather repairs and strengthens the relationship through the process.

By being perceived as a good mediator or constructive participant in disagreements, adolescents gain a reputation for maturity and reliability. This makes them essential members of any team or social group, increasing their potential for permanence and drastically reducing the risk of social exclusion that results from constant relationship breakdowns.
